Alliances Lesser Caucasus programme is a market development programme working in Kvemo Kartli, Samtskhe-Javakheti and Ajara targeting Small Scale Livestock Producers. The programme is a Swiss Development and Cooperation (SDC) funded project implemented by Mercy Corps Georgia and has launched from 1 March 2014. Alliances Lesser Caucasus is focusing on the Dairy, Beef, Sheep and Honey market systems through access for SSLP's to core markets, supporting functions such as information, veterinary inputs, nutrition, breeding and access to finance, Food Safety and Hygiene consultancy services, business support services. The programme maintains a strong emphasis on Women's Economic Empowerment in implementation and monitoring.
In addition, the rules, relating to the operating environment are addressed through transversal themes of gender pertaining to women's' access to decision making, governance and DRR related to livestock disease notification and control. The programme monitoring and evaluation is run according to the Donor Committee for Enterprise Development standard, the programme being one of the few PSD programmes globally to have proceeded to full audit.
